The latest statistic reports that there are 4 billion mobile phone users with 80% of those users in the United States alone. Now, why does this not surprise me? Driving down the highway, in coffee shops, walking through the mall or even at school athletic events, for that matter, it seems that everywhere I look, someone is on a cell phone.
Another fact that I heard while on a training call with Kim Dushinski, was that "people who use social networking on their phone will also look at blogs".
The transition is occurring with more blogs becoming "mobilized" and sharing information through mobile marketing. This excites me!
It's new...it's hot...but is it a fad?
It is a wide open opportunity for those that will work through the kinks of "beta" and the patience needed during this just launching phase. But is it just that...a phase?
What do you think? Will it last?
How will it affect blog growth and expansion?
Inquiring minds want to know so please, do share!
Mobile is an awesome platform to market on, especially in the retail and restaurant industry. Didn't know if you were aware of this or not, but the open rate of text message marketing is something like 80%, I believe.
By comparison, e-mail marketing has an open rate of like 3% (probably high) in retail.
Which would you choose?
